(Our September meeting)

7:00 p.m.

Clyde Municipal Building

This meeting will be about "Honey Safety". Just in time!

Some have been taking off right along, but some of us wait and do it all at once. This is a matter of preference and the need for your honey! Caroline Allinder will be doing the program.

While your in your hives, now is the time to check things out and make sure they don't need some attention before winter, such as diseases, mites, reducing the entrance to keep the mice out. Prepare to have some kind of wind break, like trees, bushes or a building, for the winter. You will have to leave enough honey on for their food too! If you were to our last meeting the program was on "Fall and Winter Management" and probably know what to do!...If you missed it you can always come to this meeting and ask a fellow beekeeper….

Trivia Question:

Which is NOT true about honey?

a. It has antioxidants,

b. It's fat free

c. It has zero calories

d. It's cholesterol free

"Exploring Your Backyard"

September 20th & 21st

This has become an annual event for our bee club to do a short presentation to all 4th grades of Sandusky County. This is on a Tues. and Wed. and the programs start at 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. They want us set up by 9:40 a.m. and they will provide a free lunch to all presenters. The Allinders have been letting us use their short documentary as part as the presentation. We still need volunteers to answer some questions and do a little show and tell. Signing up at this meeting will give us a head count they need for the free lunches.

If you can only come half a day this also helps! It's fun, besides spreading the "word" on the beekeeping industry!
